Meet the Makers
Weavers
We partner with independent female weavers from the highlands of Guatemala who weave these intricate straps on simple back-strap looms in their homes.
Back-strap weaving is deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Guatemala. Each strap takes many days to make, being woven around time dedicated to their children and families.
Estuardo
Estuardo, his mom Nidia, and their family team of artisans will transform this woven textile into the final strap from their home workshop in Guatemala.
They have been partnering with Amara since 2017, carefully crafting our bags and accessories using traditional techniques of leatherwork passed down through their family for generations.
